What to do if you receive a denial letter

Unfavorable decisions by the state agencies are very common. If you receive an unfavorable decision from Social Security, you should file an appeal as soon as possible. This must be done within sixty (60) days of the date on the denial letter. The easiest way to file the appeal is using Social Security's website. You can also file your appeal in person at your local Social Security office. No matter how you file your appeal, be sure that you receive a receipt from Social Security (you will receive a receipt automatically if you use Social Security's website).

Always file a timely appeal. Because unfavorable decisions are common, do not become discouraged or give up. If you are uncertain about the strength of your case, feel free to call our office for a free consultation.
